This special day is a time for our community to come together in gratitude for the love, sacrifices, and cultural legacy that our mothers pass down to every generation.

– Dress to impress with blue, silver or combination of both (English or Native outfits).
– lndividual Picture taking will starts at 6P.M to 7:45. please be on time. to take your individual pose and our group pictures.
– CWO women are encouraged to donate money towards the event.

Our Story
The Nigerian-Igbo Catholic Community of Atlanta (NICCA) began in the early 1990s following a visit from Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ede, which inspired local Igbo immigrants to integrate their native language and cultural traditions into their worship. Originally established as a prayer ministry, the group evolved with the support of the Archdiocese of Atlanta to foster communal fellowship and pass on the Igbo language and legacy to younger generations. Key milestones in its history include the 1999 hosting of Cardinal Francis Arinze and the ordination of the first Nigerian priest in the archdiocese, Fr. Michael Onyekuru.
The community has been privileged to have as its chaplain the Late Rev. Fr. Dr. John Paul Ezeonyido, who served as its spiritual leader from his ordination in 2003 until his untimely earthly departure on Dec 25th, 2020. Late Fr. John Paul energetically infused and instituted NICCA with many initiatives that contributed immensely to the growth of the community.
NICCA is also indebted to Rev Fr. Dr. Paschal Amagba CMF, who ably took up the mantle of serving as its spiritual leader after the death of Fr. J.P, and served until his posting out of the archdiocese of Atlanta in 2024.
NICCA is currently honored to have as its Chaplain The Rev. Fr. Felix Nzeadi, who has been serving as the community’s spiritual leader since his appointment in 2025.
NICCA hosts monthly Igbo-language masses at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and a prominent and widely attended annual New Year’s mass. The community remains active through annual retreats, bazaars, and special services honoring Blessed Cyprian Michael Iwene Tansi. Through the dedicated efforts of its clergy and members, the organization continues to grow with the long-term goal of eventually establishing its own parish.

NICCA CMO
The Catholic Men Organization serves as a pillar of strength and leadership within the community, dedicated to fostering spiritual growth and providing a supportive network for men to live out their faith. By emphasizing the values of service and brotherhood, this group empowers its members to lead their families and the wider community with integrity and devotion.
NICCA CWO
The Catholic Women Organization is a vibrant fellowship of faith-filled women committed to spiritual enrichment, charitable works, and the preservation of cultural values. Through prayerful collaboration and a heart for service, the group provides a nurturing environment where women can grow in their relationship with Christ while supporting the diverse needs of the parish family.
NICCA Choir
The NICCA Choir is a central part of our liturgical life, dedicated to enhancing the Igbo style of worship through music and song. By leading the congregation in traditional Igbo hymns and religious melodies, the choir helps to create a prayerful atmosphere that resonates with our cultural identity. The choir invites members to share their musical talents to glorify God and inspire the faithful during our most significant gatherings.
NICCA Youth Ministry
The Youth Ministry is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of Nigerian-Igbo Catholics to encounter Christ in a personal and meaningful way. Through tailored programming and engaging activities, the ministry seeks to ground young people in their faith and cultural heritage, preparing them to be compassionate leaders and active participants in the life of the Church.
